Akilithon was born out of a simple conviction: Uganda's tech community deserves a benchmark. Not another event. Not another panel. A monthly, competitive, community-funded test of who is genuinely keeping pace with the global tech landscape.
Founded by Ronnie Atuhaire — a tech community builder who has spent years organising events, speaking at conferences, and running interactive quiz and kahoot sessions that became a signature at every event he hosted. If you have ever attended one of his sessions, you know: there is always a challenge, always a kahoot, always a moment where the audience has to prove what they actually know.
Akilithon is the natural evolution of that energy into a structured, recurring institution — open to the entire Ugandan tech community. Built with co-founder Benjamin Wakida, it runs entirely online right now, with the mission to eventually grow into a full hybrid experience: live arenas, school editions, corporate leagues.
But we start here. Every last Friday of the month. 8 PM sharp.
Free events get free energy. When you pay — even a small amount — you prepare. You study. You show up sharp. The 5K is not a barrier. It is the seriousness filter.
UGX 5,000 is less than a plate of food at a restaurant. Less than an Uber across Kampala. But it is enough to make you open your notes the night before. That is the entire point.
More importantly: every shilling is redistributed. Nothing disappears into operations. Nothing is pocketed. The entry pool is split transparently every single month, live, in front of the community.
The 30% ecosystem fund compounds. Month after month it builds into scholarships, event sponsorships, and support for the next generation of Ugandan builders who cannot yet afford to enter.
Live visuals, posters, and GIFs for the current Akilithon edition. Updated before each quiz night — this is where the energy lives.
Season 1 opens on 17th April 2026 — an exceptional Thursday launch. From May, Akilithon locks permanently to the last Friday of every month at 8 PM EAT.
Akilithon starts online — lean, accessible, community-funded. The vision is bigger: live events, corporate leagues, school editions, East Africa expansion. We are looking for partners who believe in building Uganda's tech ecosystem from the inside. The goal is to keep growing this online first, then take it hybrid. Get in early — founding partners shape the brand.
